Do I need to be certified to apply?
No. A CNA or HHA certification is great and it factors into your pay tier, but it isn’t required. What California does require is that you register as a Home Care Aide with the state, pass a fingerprint background check, and have TB clearance — if you haven’t done that yet, we’ll walk you through each step. Beyond that, what matters most is that you’re dependable, patient, and genuinely care about older adults.
If you’re not certified, we’ll train you on the essentials before you ever step into a client’s home — safe transfers, fall prevention, medication reminders, dementia care basics, and how we handle emergencies.
What’s the pay range?
Coachella Valley: $20–$30+ per hour.
Orange County and Los Angeles: $22–$32+ per hour.
Pay rates vary depending on each client’s care needs. Overnight shifts pay at the same rates. We’re transparent about the exact hourly rate before you accept a shift — not after. Call (760) 444-0516 and we’ll walk you through the rate for the position you’re interested in.
How many hours per week can I get?
Anywhere from 8 to 40+ hours a week, depending on your availability and where you live. Tell us what you can work — days, nights, weekends, overnights, or a mix — and we’ll build a schedule around it.
Coachella Valley and Orange County are our busiest regions right now, so if you’re near one of those and want full-time hours, we can usually make that happen.
Will I work with the same clients?
Yes, whenever possible. We build regular schedules with one or two consistent clients per caregiver because it’s better for everyone: you build trust, the family builds trust, and the client — especially those with dementia — feels safe with a familiar face.
Fill-in and per-diem shifts do come up when a coworker is out sick or on vacation, and those are a great way to pick up extra hours if you want them. Otherwise, we protect your regular routes.
Do I need a car?
A reliable vehicle and a valid California driver’s license are strongly preferred, since most of our clients are in residential neighborhoods that public transit doesn’t reach well.
That said, we do have some clients accessible by transit and some caregivers who cluster their shifts in a single city. If you don’t drive, apply anyway and be honest about your situation — we’ll tell you what’s realistic.
How long does the hiring process take?
Most caregivers go from application to first shift within one to two weeks. Here’s the flow:
- Application review and phone screen — within 2 business days.
- In-person interview at our Palm Desert office.
- Fingerprint background check, TB clearance and reference calls (usually 3–5 business days).
- Paid onboarding and orientation.
- First shift, matched to your city, schedule, and skills.
If you’re already certified and cleared, it moves faster.
What kind of training do you provide?
Every new caregiver gets paid orientation covering safe transfers, fall prevention, personal care assistance, medication reminders, infection control, dementia care basics, and how we handle emergencies. Training is on the clock.
Beyond that, we offer ongoing training in specialized areas — advanced dementia and Alzheimer’s care, end-of-life comfort care, communication with families, and continuing education toward certifications like CDP if you want to grow into a specialist role.
What if I have a criminal record?
We can’t hire caregivers with certain disqualifying convictions — those are set by California state licensing requirements for Home Care Aides, not by us. Serious violent or elder-abuse-related offenses are automatic disqualifiers.
For anything else, call us and be upfront. Old, non-violent offenses often don’t disqualify you, especially if enough time has passed and you’ve been steadily employed. We’d rather have an honest conversation up front than surprise anyone during the background check.
